Love playing outside!

Our weather has been quite strange the past 24 hours, but not unusual for Michigan. We had a snow storm yesterday and woke up to the ground and cars covered in snow but by late morning the sun melted all of the snow away. It was so nice outside that we decided to take our first bike ride of the year. It felt great to get a little exercise and Owen had a fun time too. After our bike ride we played outside for over an hour. We played on his slide and played basketball. We also played with Owen's truck as well. It was sooo much fun! Owen literally was crying when we came inside. Can't wait for nicer and warmer weather so we can stay outside for longer periods of time.

Owen's got a new BIG BOY bedroom!

Owen finally moved from his crib to a BIG BOY bed last night. He did great and didn't try to get out of his room once. We were very surprised at how good he was all night.
Today I was a bit nervous for his nap, but again he didn't get out once and actually slept longer then he normally does.
Here are a couple of pictures of his new room. We decided to stick with the JUNGLE theme as it is so stinkin' cute for his age, and also to save money.
When Owen can tell me what he wants his bedroom decor to be; trucks, cars, or whatever else, then we can decorate again.
His blanket is in the wash (it was really, really gross) but once it is out it will be the finishing touch to a sweet new room for our very sweet little boy.

What happened to my muffins?

I was gone this evening for about an hour or two running errands and when I came home I found this plate on the counter. Kris was here with him the whole time, but said that he had already had a bite out of each muffin before he knew what he was up to! Well, we are all family, right??

Time for a big boy bed??

This morning we awoke to quite an unusual sound. I remember lying in bed thinking to myself what on earth is that noise. It was a door knob turning back and forth.

I said to Kris "oh my gosh, Owen got out of his crib." Before either of us could make our way out of bed to check on him, our sweet little Owen greeted us in our bedroom with his paci in his mouth and holding his blanket. He had a very large grin on his face!

I told Kris that we should check his body over for broken bones- but so far so good! No complaints as of yet!

I was a bit hesitant for nap time today- wondering how I was going to get any work done with him climbing out of his crib. Thankfully, he had a nice nap and did not try to escape.

We just put him to bed about an hour ago and so far I don't hear any pitter-pattering of feet above me so I will take that as a good sign.

Looks like Owen will move to a twin size bed by this weekend at the latest! I was really hoping to keep him in his crib for a lot longer- he used to be needy! Mommy and Daddy to take him out after sleeping the night away or waking up from a refreshing nap! But those days are soon to be gone and he will continue to progress with his independence. It is sad that these precious moments are so short lived.

I guess this is why people have more then one child........so they can keep reliving these experiences!

Dinner Time!

I have made this salad the last two nights for me for dinner. It is sooo yummy or so I think! Both nights Owen has literally climbed up in my lap and has had every other bite of my salad. If a two year old thinks it's good- it must be good! And my mom and mother in law would be happy since it is a pretty decent combination of fruits and vegetables. I think I may know what I am making Owen for his birthday dinner! He won't eat anything else I make for him!
Owen had dinner tonight with his cousins. Owen is very fortunate to have cousins close by to play with on a regular basis.

Does this look comfortable??

Kris came home from work today and laid down right away which is unusual since I am the one who normally tries to encourage napping in our house. Any way I was finishing up some work when I looked over and saw that Owen had nuzzled his way to a pretty comfy looking spot right near Kris' head. Upon further view I noticed that Owen was taking one of his cars and pushing it down the couch and every time it would hit Kris on the top of the head. Kris is still sleeping so it must not have been that bothersome for him.

Owen in a big boy bed!

Owen is at grammy's today and I just received this picture from her of him in a BIG BOY BED!!!! I can't believe that he is just laying there and not trying to move. Looks like we may be transforming his crib this weekend so that he can have a big boy bed at home too! Time sure does fly by.... way too quickly!!

Myrtle Beach March 2009

We enjoyed our trip to Myrtle Beach so much! We had so much fun with Owen in the pool and just hanging out for the week, away from reality (I was still working so I wasn't 100% away from reality, however I certainly enjoyed our evenings together.) Here are a couple of pictures from our trip that I feel captured the great time that we all had. Enjoy!

Kris with Owen making a car at RideMakerz. Owen loves picking out his car and putting it together. It is so fun to watch Owen and Kris around cars. It is Kris' passion and Owen loves cars and trucks.

Me and Owen in the Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach! Owen liked the moving floor more then all of the amazing sea life surrounding us- well I guess he isn't quite two yet! Maybe next time!

Kris and Owen in one of the many pools at our hotel. Owen really took to the water well- but especially loved being held by his daddy and scoping out the pool together.

Our family at a restaurant in Murrill's Inlet, Myrtle Beach. The food was so good- I could eat there every night of the week!

Our family photo on the Atlantic ocean. Our hotel was right on the ocean and the view behind us was what we woke up to every morning. Amazing! Kris bought a "boogie board" the first day we got there thinking he was going to use it! It was a little chilly to swim in the ocean but it will be a good memory to a great trip!

Trip to Myrtle Beach and Leesville, SC

Owen in the car, being sly as usual! This is me and Owen picking up daddy and papa from the golf course.
This is Owen eating a hush puppie at a restaurant in Murrell's Inlet, Myrtle Beach. I don't remember eating hush puppies in the past- but boy these were YUMMY!!!!

Owen looking at the Atlantic ocean from our hotel room. We had a two bedroom condo that was on the ocean! It was gorgeous!

Owen and daddy at Broadway at the Beach right outside the Ripley's Aquarium. While at the shopping center we went to the Aquarium and let Owen build a car at Ridemakeriz! He had so much fun and was such a good little boy the whole time!

We made it! We didn't know how Owen would do in the car for 15 hours, but he was a trooper and did a great job for the most part. We split up our trip into 2 days getting there and we drove straight through on the way home. Needless to say, we are going to be staying in for a few days so that he doesn't feel like an enemy in his own car seat. We had tons of fun and really needed a break from reality! Owen loved the beach and went in the ocean with Kris a couple of times when the weather was nice. We enjoyed good food the whole trip except all the fast food on the way down and back to Michigan. I don't think Owen will eat chicken nuggets for about a month or longer! Here are just a couple pictures I took on my cell phone while we were on vacation. I will post more later from the real camera.

Owen posing again!

Here is Owen posing for me again- every time I get out my camera he looks at me, smiles and then says "cheese" like a good little boy! I realize that he looks a little possessed but I think he still looks cute.

Where's Owen?

Owen is quite the little sneaky boy lately. He loves hiding and finds great pleasure when I can't find him. Look at his little feet sticking out of the bottom of the drapes. Too cute!

Owen likes his snacks!

Owen likes his snacks and he also likes to run around the house naked- so in this picture I was able to capture the best of both worlds in the eyes of an almost two year old.
