Wyatt the Great

Wyatt continues to be a challenge for us. He is so sweet and cuddly but he is also very sassy and stubborn. Lately he doesn't like staying in his crib at night. Or in his bedroom period for that matter. So we had to do what needed to be done and we put a gate right outside of his door so he can't escape. Sounds good, right? Well for those of you who know Wyatt, you know he's a big, solid two year old and nothing seems to be able to stop him. Not even a gate. He usually plows right through it several times a night. Last night was one of those nights where Kris and I took turns going up and putting him back in his crib. When I finally went up for the night I found what he was up to while roaming the upper level of our house.

Kris put him to be in a white t-shirt and shorts. Notice the white t-shirt was in the trashcan. I guess he didn't like it anymore! Yes he threw out his shirt!! All by himself...wow!

And if that wasn't enough....as I entered my bedroom this is what I found on my nightstand. It is a ring box with a clump of freshly cut hair sticking out of it......Kris gave the boys haircuts on Tuesday morning....I thought I threw all of the hair out but apparently i missed some and Wyatt retrieved it and stuck it in my ring box for a souvenir.
So needless to say I'm trying to come up with a clever and creative nickname for him. For now I'm calling him Wyatt the Great!

Camping, bathing, outdoor fun and EIGHT years

We had quite an amazing weekend. On Friday we headed out with our summer home in tow to Port Huron. They have a pretty decent campground there with lots of amentities for the kids. We spent the weekend with our good friends and their two boys....it was great!!

After we got the camper set up on Friday we decided to take our boys into downtown Port Huron to see the Blue Water Bridge. Owen wasn't really crazy about going but I promised him it would be worth it. When we saw the water and the bridge he just kept saying, "oh my goodness, this is so gorgeous. It is just beautiful. And it just keeps going on and on and on." (referring to Lake Huron never ending)

Here are Wy and Kris walking together. It was hot, really hot, and was rather unpleasant since we could feel our sunburns intensifying every minute. But we were all troopers and made the best of it.
Owen watching some boats and looking over into Canada. It was fun to explain how we were so close to a different country. I asked Kris if we should take the boys over to Sarnia but he shot me down rather quickly stating that we would probably have our trip ruined trying to cross the border with no passports and two kids. Point taken! Needless to say we didn't attempt anything that would threaten us from not having a good weekend.
Here was a ship docked on the shore. Tours were available but we didn't brave it with the kids and the heat....we decided to save our money for some ice cream! :o)
 Me and my boys!
Another one of Kris and Wyatt!

Owen taught Wyatt how to make a beard in the bathtub with bubbles...so they kept making these beards together! Adorable and creative!
And our proudest moment of the weekend was Owen learning to ride his bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS. When we got home today he couldn't stay off of his bike. He just kept riding and riding and riding!

Check out his smile! Everytime he would pass me I would say to him, "I'm so proud of you, you're doing great." And he would just say "thanks!" in the sweetest way!

Owen doing all of his riding this weekend made Kris a little bike hungry himself. So at one point they were both riding around the neighborhood together. Good times!
We pulled out the hose and the sprinkler for the boys to have some fun since it was so hot outside today.
Filling up the buckets to pour on the neighbor girl.
Wyatt had literally just woken up from a nap so here he is still a bit groggy. Groggy and stretching...love this picture! And no he didn't want to go anywhere near the water.
Here's a cute close up. After I snapped this picture he ran inside and brought out a towel for him to sit on. When I tried to share it with him (since I thought it was for the two of us, he ran back inside and brought out a second towel) What a good boy he is!
And last but not least we asked Owen to take a picture of us since today was our EIGHTH anniversary. He kept telling me that I needed to change my clothes and put something nice on and that Kris needed to change too since, "a beer shirt and camoflage shorts were not appropriate for a wedding." His words exactly! Smart boy!!! But we didn't change, this is who we are....we had a fabulous day of camping, bike riding, eating hot dogs and potato chips for dinner..... and we are still in love, possibly even more so than the day we were married. Kris is an amazing husband and father and I am so blessed to have him as my husband.
We hope you enjoyed your weekend as well. Happy Memorial Day and thanks to the men and women who continue to fight daily for our freedom.  We honor those who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom. So proud to be an American!

Happy Birthday!!

Last weekend we celebrated my sister and brother's birthdays. It was a gorgeous day and the kids were able to run in the sprinklers and play on the slip'n'slide. Here is my sister with Nathan and Owen.
 Wyatt looking adorable!
Love this picture of Kris "throwing" Wy down the slide like a bowling ball!
I had to post this picture because my dad swung Wyatt like this three times before he let go of him.....he assumed it would provide some good momentum for a great run down the slip'n'slide. However Wyatt fell like a ton of bricks smack down on his butt and back....then of course he sobbed and sobbed. My dad felt so bad. After the fact it was pretty humorous!
Me and my brother and Wy!
Love my sister and brother so much! Glad we are so close and continue to remain close throughout the years. We are so fortunate to have an equally good relationship with Kris' sister and brother too!

Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Celebratory graduation dinner

What screams CELEBRATE like Taco Bell??  We gave Owen PLENTY of good choices of where we could go to dinner and Taco Bell wasn't even on the list. He ended up saying McDonald's but we said no, so we compromised on Taco Bell.

Here are me and my boy being goofy!
 Love him.....love him....love him!!!!

Owen's preschool graduation

Today was Owen's preschool graduation!! Wow, a whole year of school has already passed and next year Owen will be gone five days per week....five FULL days. I don't know what I'm going to do without him...I will miss him so much!

Here is Owen right outside of his school before we headed in for the graduation party.

All of the kids were up on stage and performed for all of the parents and family members. Grammy and Grampy and Nana and Papa came and surprised Owen. He was super excited to see them.
Each student received a certificate which stated their Christ-like character trait. Owen's trait was determination....and then his teacher went on to say that he was the third teacher in the class and that she pictures Owen being a lawyer or in management one day and that his stories are very imaginative and that he knows so much about trains. I'm not gonna lie, I had tears! Love that kid and he is growing up so fast!
We love his preschool teacher...look at her, how she gets down on his level and her face shows true compassion. She was like this with each student. We are so blessed Owen was able to experience his first year of school with such an amazing teacher.
Here is Owen with both of his teachers. Awesome ladies!
Since the preschool class doesn't get a yearbook, Owen's teachers gave each student a bucket and then gave the class an opportunity to go around and have each child sign the bucket. It was a great idea!
Owen and his best friend Abby. He talks about Abby ALL the time!! So cute together.
Grammy and Wy-man...pretty soon we will be at Wy's graduation...have to cherish each moment we can!
Owen signing Abby's bucket. They both picked orange buckets....
A nice picture of grammy and grampy with the boys.
 Our family.

What a terrific day...we had perfect weather and were just so pleased at how everything turned out. We are beyond blessed that Owen will be able to continue his education at the same private school...so blessed!!!

Batmobile and planting saplings

Owen has been infatuated with Batman lately, anything Batman related he has to have. Grammy made him this Batman cape for his birthday last year and he was Batman for Halloween so already had the mask to complete his ensemble. Anyway....recently he has started talking about his batmobile, aka his F-150 Harley Davidson truck. So today he asked if he could take his batmobile out for a drive. I ended up having my first jog of the season and it felt GREAT!!!
When Kris got home from work he took the boys outside and started planting some saplings that they got from Greenfield Village last weekend. While Owen and Kris were planting, Wyatt ventured off and was attacked by two sprinklers, one on each side of him....look at how paralyzed he was. He was just like that crying "momma" until I went and pulled him out of the sprinklers.
The boys were so interested in how Kris was going to plant the saplings.
 Owen was a great helper.
He even went and got his big outdoor play shovel and went to the garden and brought Kris dirt to fill in the hole. What a good helper....yes still dressed as Batman!
And while I was taking pictures Wyatt was standing next to me and he would just rest his head on my shoulder so I had to snap a picture of that.....sweet boy!
Now it is bath time....we are getting all nice and clean for Owen's preschool graduation tomorrow. What a special day it will be!!

World Expo of Beer

We had an AMAZING weekend at Frankenmuth for our second annual World Expo of Beer adventure. We ate at the brewery both nights and loved the food and company we were surrounded with. Here is a picture of all the girls.
 Me and my hot hubby!
 Love him....so much!
Thanks to my in-laws for watching the boys all weekend....Kris and I didn't worry once about them. We were able to take off our "mom and dad hats" and just enjoy the gorgeous weather.

We came home today and unpacked, did laundry, showered and then headed over to celebrate my sister's and brother's birthdays. More pics to come from that celebration but for now enjoy the pictures from our stress free weekend.

My baby is TWO!

Wyatt is officially TWO!! I can't believe it. We had a great day and awesome weather. Everyone but Uncle Steve and Great Grandma Jane made it to Wy's party so we were so pleased with the turnout. We played some baseball with Owen.
And Owen had to wear his Batman cape and mask ALL day long. We got quite a lot of looks at Kroger and the party store to pick up the food.
