Our funny, funny boy.....Owen

After dinner tonight we headed to the grocery store for our weekly family shopping trip. We were still all dressed fairly nice from going to church this morning and as we pulled into the parking lot it was much busier than I expected. So Kris circled around a few times and finally parked WAY FAR AWAY. And the whole time I am up front saying, "really? I have the highest heels on today and this is the best you can do? Circle around again and try to find a closer spot, it is cold outside and we shouldn't have to park this far away."

Kris proceeds to park the car and just as he takes the key out of the ignition, Owen says, "Mommy, stop whining! Whine, whine, whine is all your doing right now. Grown-ups shouldn't whine!"

So I pretty much got put in my place by a four year old. Thanks for telling it like it is Owen. I love you too!!

Wy-man

We went to Costco after church today and both Wyatt and Owen amazed Kris and I.....they ate all of their food and for those of you who frequent Costco, you know the quantity of food I am referring to. Wyatt scarfed down a whole hot dog, bun and all. Owen scarfed down a whole slice of pizza. And we all split a churro for dessert, yummy! Here is a picture of Wyatt enjoying some refreshing lemonade.

Owen's story of the day

I often ask Owen about who his friends are at school and who he played with, etc. He usually names a lot of the kids in his class. I asked him the other day if he didn't like anyone. He told me, "yes I don't like ________." (I'll leave her name blank for now). I then asked why he didn't like her and he said, "because I don't like her hair, it is dark and weird.... I only like the blonde girls."

Oh man, really?? Wow, how do you get past this one?!

Owen's quote of the day....

"Mommy, these are brilliant!"

My boys!

Here is Owen's pouty lip that we see quite often these days. He is still cute with it though. Wyatt desperately wanted to wear my pink fuzzy socks...he was grunting until I put them on him. I knew I would hear it from Kris but I couldn't resist myself.....so here we have pink socks!

My boys, such good brothers to each other. Look at Wy's sweet face.....love it!

Man- look at those socks.....so adorable!!! Love em', love em', love em'!!

Brotherly Love

Owen is a great brother to Wyatt. He is patient and kind and shares his toys...most of the time. Today while on the way home from taking my parents to the airport I looked back to see how they were doing and I caught them holding hands. How sweet is that?! I just love the two of them!

I know I say often about how blessed we are but I just have to say it again, Kris and I are truly blessed with two boys who have so much love for one another. Hopefully we can keep the love going for many, many more years!

Happy Valentine's Day 2012

Happy Valentine's Day!

Kris got up early this morning and surprised us with a nice breakfast of pancakes and bacon. We all ate together as a family before 8am.....yeah, I'm a bit sleepy now but I'm so thankful we were all able to enjoy a meal together.

We don't have much planned for today but hopefully we can have a nice relaxing day at home. After all being with my loves today is the perfect gift for me!! Owen surprised us with this beautiful silhouette of himself. We just love it!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Brothers and some Valentine's Day candy

I got out my camera today and Owen just wanted to be goofy. They were both getting into being goofy. Owen is liking the camera again, hope I didn't just jinx myself! And here there are giving me nice smiles! Owen had his first Valentine's day party at school today. Wyatt and I went and we had a lot of fun. Below is a picture of all of the candy and cards he got from his classmates. So cute!!
It amazes me what happens over time. For example I remember getting those icky candy hearts that said "be mine" or "forever yours" which they still sell by the way, but now they have tattoos, stickers, and GOOD candy. Like good as in I pulled a few bags out of Owen's box and put them someplace safe where I can eat them later!!

Wyatt 21 months

Wow, I can't believe he will be two years old in three short months....crazy how fast time goes!

Owen the comedian

Owen had a hard time waking up this morning, which is a bit unusual because he is always the first one up at like 6am......but today Wy woke up first so I got him dressed and then we went into Owen's room together. Owen was still half asleep so I turned on the light. Wyatt went straight to the side of his bed and Owen reached for his hand so Wyatt took his hand and then Owen said, "come up here you stinkn' feline." I'm not sure what that was all about but Owen meant it in the most sincere way possible!

Owen's first report card

We are so proud of Owen! His first report card was excellent. To celebrate we took him out to the store to pick out a nice new toy.....he picked out an aircraft carrier with some jet planes. He loves it!

Way to go Owen, we love you so much and are so proud of you!!

Life...busy as usual

Where does time go? Really? Where does it go? It is practically the middle of February already. It certainly goes by too fast. Recently I agreed to take on a full-time job at work. I'm doing this new job Monday through Friday from 6am-4pm. And on top of that I am still doing my regular job. I agreed to take the new job because it is only for the month of February and I always try to help out when needed. I also agreed to take the job because I knew that with my new years resolution of saving money, this would be a darned good way to build up a nice chunk of change, especially with Owen starting a private school in the fall.

But I'm a week and a half into the job and I'm tired and am feeling bad for my boys. The job is busier than I expected and it is hard to take Owen to school three days a week and pick him up on those days. I have been trying to set up play dates for him as much as possible and bring a friend back to the house at least once a week so he and Owen can play awhile. Wy is napping when they play, so I can focus on my work.

I'm tired and irritable and both of my boys are sick right now and it's just a little stressful trying to be super mom. Is there such a thing as super mom? I wish I could say I was a super mom, but I'm feeling rather defeated at the moment. I still try to muster up as much energy as possible to play with them. But sometimes I feel I don't really know how to play "boy" stuff with them. Today for example we played catch, all three of us for about 30 minutes. And it was fun...maybe because I like sporty stuff, but we had fun. Owen can throw like a champ by the way. And Wyatt was doing great too! Then Owen set up a block display and we raced cars for a while...then we wrestled....and played doctor....and watched some shows. It was nice! I knew I would have to put off some of my work til tonight...but it was worth it.

My friend posted today about mom guilt, and as you can tell I totally have it! I've had it for a while. I want to be the best mom I can be and I know that my boys love me to pieces and look up to me. After all I'm all they have most of the week all day by myself. Kris leaves before they wake up and doesn't get home til after they are down for the night...so I know I need to give them all the attention and time I can. They deserve that and so much more!

Who knew that this mom thing was so hard?? I remember vividly when I was a kid, I never wanted to work. I always imagined marrying rich and having at least eight kids, yep 8!! But now I find that my life is tough with 2 kids....really hard sometimes.

But we have a good life and are beyond blessed. I just wish that I had the energy and patience to keep up with them. And I'm happy to say that I am taking the first week of March off....which is already designated for strict family time, just the four of us. I can't wait....in the meantime wish me luck, I certainly could use it!

Our weekend, starts with a celebration and ends with an ear infection

We had a nice weekend overall. Friday night my whole entire family went out and surprised my mom with a nice dinner. She had her port removed on Friday morning. After a long scary battle of metastatic breast cancer that spread from her breast to her lung to her brain twice, we celebrated her victory on Friday. She is truly an amazing woman and I love her for who she is and am so thankful she is my mom. She is a SURVIVOR and for that we are blessed and thankful! I know it meant so much to her to go out and celebrate.

We dressed up the boys to go out to the restaurant but as you can see Owen wasn't feeling all that great. He started complaining Friday morning of a sore throat. And he has a horrible cough......

But he mustered up the energy to smile so we could capture this picture. Me and Wyatt.

Wyatt and me.

Wy and Kris

Here are my boys, giving me nice smiles....all dressed up and ready to go out for a night on the town.

Owen...who would have known that you weren't feeling well?! What a charmer this boy is!

Until he starts climbing on the counter top. If you notice in his hand is a brownie that he snatched from the plate on the stove.

Trying to back off of the counter top with the brownie in his hand.

Grammy and the boys made pupcakes on Thursday. They were so good. Wy loved them as you can tell by this picture. Eewww, gross!

Saying Cheese with a Doritos and cupcake mess on his face.

Yummy!

Last night Owen progressively got worse and was screaming and crying in pain. He was saying that his ear hurt. He came downstairs around midnight just sobbing about how bad he hurt. I knew I had to take him in. Thankfully I was able to calm him down and get some more medication into him to reduce his fever and get him back to sleep. But first thing this morning we headed to the doc. He has a nasty ear infection.

So Kris set him up a cool fort and turned on the vaporizer. Owen has spent the most of the day in his fort watching Nick Jr. After we picked up his prescription from the pharmacy I took him to the video store and let him pick out some movies.

We had a nice weekend just hanging out together. We wish that Owen felt better and we pray that Wyatt, Kris and I don't get it. The doc said it was contagious.

So all in all it was a weekend spent celebrating good health for my mom and taking care of my sick boy. And by the way he is so sweet when he doesn't feel well and may be even more polite when he is sick. Even the doctor mentioned how polite he was!!

Thursday at the museum

The boys headed to Grammy's again today for some fun! Lucky for them Grampy took a vacation day today so he could go to the museum too. They have a new section for preschoolers, it is an old Texaco station with a lot of hands on activities. Check out these cool pictures.

I love this picture. Look and Owen and Grampy in the background....working really hard to diagnose that car. Wyatt rotating some tires....

Owen doing some maintenance.

Grampy and Owen building something fun!

Grammy and Wy man Grammy and O man

Both boys looking under the hood. Where is that scan tool when you need one??!

More fun!

I'm so glad they had the opportunity to go to the museum today and to have so much fun. They certainly deserved this! Thanks Grammy and Grampy!

Fishers of Men

I took the boys to their first puppet show tonight which also doubled as a rock concert. It was a black light puppet show and the kids were given glow sticks at the door. It was such a blast. Even Wyatt was quiet for the whole hour and sat the whole time. There was lots of singing, clapping and amazing puppets.

We had a chance to meet the puppeteers after the show. Wyatt was a little skeptical to share a good smile with this crazy angel next to him. Uncle Jimmy was doing his best to get him to smile. Look at this kid.....he couldn't be happier. He wanted his picture with all of the colorful fish, and a picture full of colorful fish is what he got!

Owen asked after the show if he could be in the show.....the ages of the children were 9-14. I told him he had a few years but that of course he could be. He's my little entertainer.

After working some crazy hours this week, I'm so thankful for this opportunity to go and enjoy the show with my boys!
