The boys

I bought the boys some activity books and cards today. Owen and I are playing a game in his book and Wyatt really wants to get involved. So he found an extra marker and has been trying to draw on the table thus I took the marker away from him and gave him his set of cards to play with when he said in a huff "I don't want to play with my cards, my cards are lame!"

Wyatt

Wyatt was just climbing on the ottoman to get to the top shelf of our entertainment center. When I asked him what he was doing he responded "you put my batman on that shelf and I can't reach it. Don't do that again momma, do you understand?!"

Oh man it's going to be a long day. Wyatt's getting some sass now too just like Owen!

Story time.

My mom has been taking Wyatt to the library every Tuesday for story time. The first week he looked out of the window for the entire hour and would seldom turn his head to see what the story was about. Then last week he started off looking out of the window again and then ended up like this. Still not sitting nicely in nana's lap like all of the other children in this picture with their respective parents...but I guess wy is wy and his stubbornness is already shining through at an early age.

Hoping for progress this Tuesday!!

Results

So we baked the fruit roll ups a tad too long so they are more of a crunchy fruit roll but they seem to really like them. We will certainly try again and adjust the cooking time.

Best daddy ever!

Kris took the boys out to help him plow off the driveway. They were outside for a long time and then I started hearing the tractor circle our house. At first I thought I was crazy until I started to hear some giggles. Here is what the boys have been up to tonight. Kris is such a great daddy!! How fun!

Fruit roll ups

I've been finding lots of recipes on Pinterest lately. Most of the easy ones I have been trying. So far my baked cheese sticks and chicken wontons have been a huge hit amongst both the boys and the adults. I found this recipe for fruit roll ups the other day and thought it looked easy enough...so since Owen didn't have school today we gave it a go.

Start with fruit. Dried, frozen, fresh, whatever.

We used frozen raspberries and strawberries.

Of course it wouldn't be baking without someone reaping the benefits. Not surprised wy was the first one to start eating the fruit.

Cook down until they are all mashed up into a purée.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray so the fruit doesn't stick.

Spread your fruit on the parchment paper.

Bake at your ovens lowest temp for 5-8 hours.

Side note***this recipe was obtained from Pinterest. I don't remember the exact website it referenced.

I have no idea how these will taste but Owen has been on quite the healthy food kick lately and thinks everything we have in the house is all junk so I'm hoping to win him over with this!!

If it turns out well I will post about it later!! Enjoy your weekend!

That's how they do it in the shows...

Last night Owen asked if he could wear his bathrobe to bed. I told him that was fine and asked him if he wanted to sleep with his slippers on as well. He responded very casually that he did not want to sleep with his slippers on but that he did want to put them at the foot of his bed and put them on when he woke up the next morning because, after all, that is how they do it in the shows!!! This boy cracks me up!!

Party time!

Owen went back to school today after being out all week. It turns out that only half of his class were in attendance all week long so whatever the "bug" was it was a nasty one. With that being said he missed his field trip to the science museum, yes the trip that he was saving up money for to use at the museum gift shop. He has worked very hard doing chores and listening well the first time, thus earned something special.

Today after school we headed off to target where he got to pick out anything he wanted. He had $15 to spend and he immediately picked out this Melissa and Doug birthday cake set and carried it throughout the store as happy as could be. Towards the end of our shopping he decided that he wanted the pizza making kit instead so we went back and swapped it for the pizza set. When we got to the check out line he started to panic a bit, breathing heavy and started to cry and said that he really wanted both sets so bad but that he wanted the cake one more. So again we headed back to the toy section and he picked out the cake set again. He has been baking and smiling ever since. We were lucky enough to have some awesome brownies and cake after our dinner. If only they were real!!!

Sick boy!

Well after a perfectly fun day yesterday skiing and roaming around town with aunt Julie Owen took a drastic turn from his smiles and laughter.

He has a fever and a really swollen lymph node in his neck. He threw up only once but has continued with the fever all day. I'm hoping he will be fully healed by the morning and back to his usually self.

Despite the fact he was feeling horrible all day he still shared his sense of humor with us. We were talking about getting him some Gatorade from the store and wy started chiming in about how he wanted Gatorade too when Owen said, "I don't want anyone to have Gatorade but me, I don't want anyone to get this crap!" Kris corrected him to say "bug" instead. I know it's not really funny, but it kind of is in a way....just how he used it so correctly.

He wanted to go to the doctor tonight. If he isn't better in the morning I will probably take him in to rule out strep. Praying for smiles and laughter tomorrow and that he will eat and drink something!!

Owen skiing!!!

Well after a few months of wanting to try out skiing....Owen's wish finally came true. Thankfully aunt Julie is super awesome and adventurous and was ecstatic when Owen asked if she could take him. I wanted to try to go too however after a few weeks of some unexpected inflammation I decided against it. I begged Julie to keep me updated and these pictures are what she sent me throughout the day. There were videos too which were just priceless....I'm so glad o had an awesome first experience out on the hills.

Owen getting ready.

Getting his rental equipment.

Check out those snazzy ski boots.

Nice form.....

Oops. First tumble....

Going down the hill.

Owen and aunt Julie.

So proud of my boy and thankful for aunt Julie. We met up to watch him for the last few minutes. Then we headed to salsaritas for some dinner and aunt Julie took him to a few stores to check out ski equipment. Haven't heard from them yet....wonder if he is having a spend the night too. What a fun night for him!!!!

Wyatt being a big helper

Wy and I ventured to two different grocery stores today and he was such an awesome helper at both of them. While in Meijer he had to have his own basket to put his groceries in. Yes his hair is orange......Owen had crazy hair day today so of course we had to do wy's hair crazy too!!

Movie night

Tonight was a nice family night. When we got home from school, kris was already home, which was a nice surprise. I made some home made cheese sticks earlier today and froze them so we baked those bad boys and had a nice snack. The boys and kris and I loved them. Soooo good and we didn't feel guilty about eating them either. Then we followed our appetizer with some taco pie for an early dinner and then had strawberry shortcake. What a great meal if I do say so myself. We hung out for a few more hours and the boys did a painting project and then we headed up for a play bath. Now they are having a movie night in Owens bed watching cars 2 and eating candy. Love our boys!!!

Happy 2013

Happy New Year. It certainly has been a very busy January so far. Kris started back teaching and his schedule is crazy as usual, leaving me and the boys to fend for ourselves. Kris' sister got engaged on New Year's Eve and we were lucky enough to be a part of it. How exciting!! We are so happy for her and her fiancé!

I haven't taken many pictures, but these two are the most recent since I last posted. This picture makes me really, really want a girl.....how adorable would a little girl look in this?!

Owen has a field trip in a few weeks, and he can take spending money to use at the museum gift shop....so he is doing some chores around the house to earn some money....and those glasses you ask? He has been infatuated with them since he got them in a doctors kit for Christmas from Kris' grandma.

We are taking Owen skiing this weekend for the first time if he weather and... ahem, Owen cooperate. My sister and I took him to our local ski "mountain" today to get his boots sized and to have him walk around for a few minutes to see if he was okay with it. So far so good. That may actually be my next post. Stay tuned!!
