7 months pregnant with a broken foot.....

So I am ecstatic to announce that I have officially entered the third trimester and am SEVEN months pregnant. Baby Wyatt is still as active as ever and gives me some pretty good kicks and punches, mostly on my bladder, which in turn makes for very frequent bathroom runs throughout the day and night.

This past Thursday I ventured out to get the mail and no more then a couple of steps away from the porch I managed to turn my ankle and falling to the ground. Needless to say I was alone and stubborn as usual so just thought that it was a sprain (if that) and continued to walk down the driveway, got the mail and returned back to the house when I called Kris and told him what happened. Thankfully Owen was at Grammy's for the day so wasn't home with me in my few hours of pain.

Since I fell I called my OB who directed me to the Labor and Delivery unit at the hospital to be monitored for 4+ hours. I knew that my foot was the most serious of my fall, but my OB wanted to be safe then sorry.

I met Kris at the hospital and we were in Labor and Delivery where they did two ultrasounds and monitored contractions and baby's heartbeat for about 2 hours. The on-call OB from my office came in and agreed that my foot looked pretty bad and said that since the baby looked GREAT that I could go down to the ER for an x-ray.

We headed down to the ER and they were super busy but got me back within five minutes (L&D kept me in the hospital gown and left my bracelet on so that they would get me in faster and it worked.) The nurse in triage was super nice and paged the ER doc who came to the Triage room and looked at my foot and told me it was broken by looking at it.

The next day we went to a foot specialist who confirmed the left foot break by x-ray and they can't cast it since risk for blood clots is higher while pregnant. So they wrapped it with a medicated wrap and gave me a pretty sweet shoe cast. I will be fitted next week for a boot cast since the swell has to go down prior to them doing anything.

So all in all it has been an interesting few days. I got a handicap pass as I am not supposed to walk on my foot. The crutches are hurting my hands and armpits and my stomach (making it really crampy to walk). thankfully the doc said it should be healed by the time Wyatt arrives.

That is it for updates for this week.....more next week as I have two OB appointments and a follow up appointment with the foot doctor. Ahhhhh....it's always something however God continues to bless my little family and myself so i can't complain! Life is good!
