Camping, bathing, outdoor fun and EIGHT years

We had quite an amazing weekend. On Friday we headed out with our summer home in tow to Port Huron. They have a pretty decent campground there with lots of amentities for the kids. We spent the weekend with our good friends and their two boys....it was great!!

After we got the camper set up on Friday we decided to take our boys into downtown Port Huron to see the Blue Water Bridge. Owen wasn't really crazy about going but I promised him it would be worth it. When we saw the water and the bridge he just kept saying, "oh my goodness, this is so gorgeous. It is just beautiful. And it just keeps going on and on and on." (referring to Lake Huron never ending)

Here are Wy and Kris walking together. It was hot, really hot, and was rather unpleasant since we could feel our sunburns intensifying every minute. But we were all troopers and made the best of it.
Owen watching some boats and looking over into Canada. It was fun to explain how we were so close to a different country. I asked Kris if we should take the boys over to Sarnia but he shot me down rather quickly stating that we would probably have our trip ruined trying to cross the border with no passports and two kids. Point taken! Needless to say we didn't attempt anything that would threaten us from not having a good weekend.
Here was a ship docked on the shore. Tours were available but we didn't brave it with the kids and the heat....we decided to save our money for some ice cream! :o)
 Me and my boys!
Another one of Kris and Wyatt!

Owen taught Wyatt how to make a beard in the bathtub with bubbles...so they kept making these beards together! Adorable and creative!
And our proudest moment of the weekend was Owen learning to ride his bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS. When we got home today he couldn't stay off of his bike. He just kept riding and riding and riding!

Check out his smile! Everytime he would pass me I would say to him, "I'm so proud of you, you're doing great." And he would just say "thanks!" in the sweetest way!

Owen doing all of his riding this weekend made Kris a little bike hungry himself. So at one point they were both riding around the neighborhood together. Good times!
We pulled out the hose and the sprinkler for the boys to have some fun since it was so hot outside today.
Filling up the buckets to pour on the neighbor girl.
Wyatt had literally just woken up from a nap so here he is still a bit groggy. Groggy and stretching...love this picture! And no he didn't want to go anywhere near the water.
Here's a cute close up. After I snapped this picture he ran inside and brought out a towel for him to sit on. When I tried to share it with him (since I thought it was for the two of us, he ran back inside and brought out a second towel) What a good boy he is!
And last but not least we asked Owen to take a picture of us since today was our EIGHTH anniversary. He kept telling me that I needed to change my clothes and put something nice on and that Kris needed to change too since, "a beer shirt and camoflage shorts were not appropriate for a wedding." His words exactly! Smart boy!!! But we didn't change, this is who we are....we had a fabulous day of camping, bike riding, eating hot dogs and potato chips for dinner..... and we are still in love, possibly even more so than the day we were married. Kris is an amazing husband and father and I am so blessed to have him as my husband.
We hope you enjoyed your weekend as well. Happy Memorial Day and thanks to the men and women who continue to fight daily for our freedom.  We honor those who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom. So proud to be an American!
